The Dainik Bhaskar Group, is one of the only media houses in the country, which has a massive connect with the aam janta, especially the smaller towns and cities, the population of which decides the fate of Bollywood stars, every Friday. And, on Thursday, at an event organised at The Leela in Mumbai, the Bhaskar Group unveiled the trophy of India's first democratic awards- Bhaskar Bollywood Awards, a DB Group initiative. The trophy was unveiled by Rascals' (a David Dhawan film) main lead- actors Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn, in the presence of the King of comedy flicks, David Dhawan.
Speaking at the launch, Sanjay Dutt said, “A star is made by the masses, so it is only right that the masses decide the entertainer of the year, this is why I am privileged to unveil the trophy for the only award that recognises this fact - the Bhaskar Bollywood Awards.”
“And, the Bhaskar Bollywood Awards have made a unique effort to give the power back to the people, who have chosen the entertainer of the year. I applaud Bhaskar Group's effort and hope that they continue these awards every year, so that even Bollywood fraternity knows what is it that the people of India want and we can continue to make cinema that they enjoy,” added Sanjay.
Adding to Dutt’s comments, Ajay Devgn said, “Wow, seven lakh people voted in the Bhaskar Bollywood Awards, that is a massive number, only the Bhaskar Group could have pulled off something like that… And finally, we have a male figure on the trophy!”
