Mrs Gandhi will chair this evening's session of her party's Central Election Committee. Her colleagues in the Congress have not been able to meet her since she arrived in Delhi early morning on September 8, accompanied by her daughter, Priyanka.
Mrs Gandhi's party has refused to comment on the sort of operation or the nature of the medical problem that led to her spending six weeks in America.
