“HTC Corporation, a global designer of mobile devices, today unveiled HTC Rhyme, a new kind of phone created for people who require advanced features but want a phone that is sleek and fits seamlessly into their lives,” said an official HTC press release.
The phone is powered by a 1GHz single-core processor, and has Adreno 205 GPU, 768MB RAM. 4GB internal storage, and 8GB pre-installed microSD card.
Measuring 4.68 x 2.39 x 0.43 inches, the phone weighs 130 grams with battery and comes with a 3.7-inch WVGA, super LCD capacitive display with 480 x 800 resolution.
Its 5-megapixel rear camera includes auto focus, power LED flash and instant shutter for capturing. It also has an 0.3 megapixels VGA additional camera.
HTC Rhyme comes in a unibody candy bar form factor and will be available in three colors: Clearwater, Hourglass and Plum.
Other features include a locked customizable homescreen, and the HTC Watch, which features a range of movies and TV shows that can be downloaded for instant viewing.
One of the accessories that the HTC Rhyme comes with is the ‘Charm’- a small light-emitting cube that attaches to the phone by a cord and can dangle from the user’s bag.
The purpose of the cube is simple yet innovative- it flashes to alert a user to incoming calls or messages while the HTC Rhyme is deep in the bag and lets him/ her quickly pull the phone out. It also makes it easy for a user to locate the phone if “buried in a cluttered purse or backpack”.
Other accessories that the phone comes with include a sports armband, tangle free headphones, a Bluetooth headset and a Bluetooth car speaker- all designed to allow hands-free use of the mobile phone.
While the phone will be available in United States in the coming weeks, it will hit the markets across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific in October.
