Cross-dresser held for attempting to enter mall in a sari

Ahmedabad: The city police on Monday caught a 25-year old man, a cross-dresser, trying to enter a mall dressed in a saree.
The man in a blue sari with matching blouse and petticoat was entering Himalaya Mall in Vastrapur when he was nabbed. The cross-dresser is a resident of Ghatlodia and police suspected him as he had covered his mouth with a cloth. When cops intercepted the 'woman', they found that the person was a man. Police said no complaint was lodged against the man but given the terror threat he was detained under IPC section 151.
Police inspector, Vastrapur police station, AK Sharma said he seemed to be a bit unstable but has no criminal background. Sharma added that the cross-dresser is a graduate who works in a furniture manufacturing company.
Sub-inspector RS Damor who is investigating the case said Shah liked to dress up as a woman but used to do so only in his house.
However, on Monday he was alone in his house and so decided to wear such clothes while going to the mall.
"Shah wore his mother's clothes and stepped out of the house, probably for the first time. He was entering the mall when SRP personnel got hold of him," Damor said.
